Book Launch, Signing, and initial Reviews

The more we understand a subject, the simpler our approach gets. And as I breeze through a lot of content on personal finance, most of which is about investing and earning money, I was often tempted to the fact that so less has been talked about saving money. I now know why. Because I had to write a book on it.

Background

Every great journey begins with a single step. For financial freedom, that step is saving money.

After years of interacting with readers, coaching families, and writing about investments and wealth creation, I realized something important: many people know where they want to reach, but very few know how to start. And even lesser knew about the Secret Alpha - the alpha that helps us become wealthier quietly but surely.

That is why I wrote my latest book — The Art of Saving Money. This book is not just about pinching pennies. It is about mastering the mindset, developing daily habits, and using practical strategies to make saving money effortless and joyful.

Behind the Book

When I was writing my maiden book: From the Rat Race to Financial Freedom more than a decade ago, one question kept coming back from readers:

"I want to invest… but where do I get the money from?"

That is the inspiration behind this book.

In The Art of Saving Money, I’ve combined my experiences, real-life examples, and India-focused strategies to answer this very question. Whether you are a young professional, a homemaker, or someone approaching retirement, this book will help you create space in your budget without cutting happiness from your life.

What You’ll Discover Inside

1/ The Psychology of Saving – how our emotions and behaviors control money decisions - including the deadly herd mentality.

2/ Daily Saving Hacks – smart yet simple ways to reduce expenses in food, travel, shopping, and lifestyle.

3/ Balance Between Spending & Saving – how to enjoy life today while preparing for tomorrow.

4/ Micro and Macroeconomic concepts - that give you a better perspective of what goes on inside our mind and how to tackle those moments to avoid unnecessary spending.

5/ How Savings Become Investments – the bridge between saving money and building wealth.

6/ Passing the Habit to the Next Generation – building a culture of savings at home.

7/ And all in an easy to read, fictional setting, story format - that makes it all the more easy to absorb the nuances about money.

Key Reviews

I am humbled and grateful that several well-known voices in the fields of personal finance, literature, and life coaching have reviewed The Art of Saving Money. Here are some of their words:

Monika Halan, Author and Financial Educator

In The Art of Saving Money, Manoj Arora takes lessons from everyday life and relates them to understanding our relationship with money better. Just high return is not the aim, but deeply understanding money and our own motivations is the core message. Don’t follow the herd, find out what floats your own boat and then follow that path. An important book to get your money compass pointing in the direction you want it to. The aim is that you take control, not just of the money, but the motivation behind it.

Ankur Warikoo, Author, Entrepeneur and SM Influencer

In this heartwarming, story-led journey, Manoj shows how understanding the small things - like a tree’s roots or a teacup’s stir - can unlock the biggest financial transformation of your life. This isn’t just a money book; it’s a mirror to how we live.

Sayema Rahman, Radio Jockey, Host: Purani Jeans
I finished this book faster than any I’ve read—and that says a lot! It has a clear purpose, a relatable story, and some truly beautiful moments. What stood out most was its simple yet powerful message: saving money isn’t just about being frugal, it’s about gaining freedom. If more of us took saving seriously, we’d stop constantly chasing the next paycheck and start enjoying life with a sense of ease. The book shows that moderation isn’t boring—it’s actually pretty liberating. A refreshing, thought-provoking read that makes you want to rethink how you live and spend.

M K Venu, Founding Editor - Wire, former Managing Editor of Financial Express
On the face of it this book is about managing personal finance - how to save money and earn more. But on a deeper reading it much more. It is not just about saving money. It is also about limiting ones' material desires and help save the planet. The metaphor about how plants can grow better with less water exemplifies this underlying theme. Can humans grow with excessive wants and become spiritually fulfilled, is a fundamental question facing the planet which has barely a decade of carbon space left to maintain its present consumption patterns. In this context, the author rightly flags "lifestyle inflation" as something that must necessarily be eschewed to help the planet breathe better
