Tree-a-thon Running event by Kalpavriksha - a first of its kind !

Kalpavriksha has been blessed, it seems!
Each year since our inception in 2016, we have been doubling our trees planted, maintained and tracked.
But this year, in 2019, we aim to take an even bigger leap, via  our first ever 'Tree-a-thon' sponsored by none other than Radisson Blu.

What is special from Kalpavriksha in 2019?
Kalpavriksha is organising a half marathon running event in Dwarka, New Delhi. And this is not going to be just another running event.
This is going to be special. Very Very Special indeed.
This is going to be the first ever amalgamation of Running and Tree Plantation - thus bringing our health into the limelight from both perspectives - a fit body, as well as clean air. We have termed this event as 'Tree-a-thon'.

What is unique about this 'Tree-a-thon' Run?
Its uniqueness is exhibited in the punchline of the run - 'You Run, We Plant'. This means that for every willing runner, Kalpavriksha will plant a tree at the location of choice of the runner (as long as it is located within the cities we operate out of). Not only will we plant a tree, we will also get it fenced and tracked online via Kalpavriksha’s technology driven website. The runner will have to vow to care for the tree for the next 2-3 years, until the tree becomes self sustaining.

What is the purpose behind organising a Tree-a-thon?
We, at Kalpavriksha, are a bunch of passionate leaders, volunteers and donors, spread across multiple cities in India.
But we cannot make it massive all alone. We need to spread awareness about trees, nature and environment among the masses of our society. And who better to start with, than fitness enthusiasts.
So, while these runners would run, we will try to clean up the air for them, and also bring more of these runners and onlookers into our fold of volunteers, leaders and donors and elevate this movement into a completely new orbit altogether.

A unique tie-up with 'RunSync'
The Leaders and Volunteers of Kalpavriksha had no experience in organising any running event - forget about the scale of the event that we are doing now. But we had the intention, purpose and passion to do such an event.
And when we move ahead with the right intent, HE is always there to bless us. We managed to meet the founders of RunSync - an organisation which has been involved with successful management of many running events of this scale in the past. And the result was a Tree-a-thon.

Who is sponsoring 'Tree-a-thon'?
The first challenge as we went about organising the run was to manage the massive expenses required before the run to organise all arrangements. We got blessed again.
Radisson Blue, Dwarka has come forward to be our key sponsor for this running event.
Not that they will sponsor everything, but their coming with us shows the faith they have in our system, processes and most importantly, our intent.

What happens to the funds raised through the event?
The funds raised through this event will be contributed as a donation to Kalpavriksha and will be utilized for planting and nurturing of trees – maintaining 100% transparency – as usual.
