Meet another Freedom Seeker: Gagan Arora from San Francisco, USA

In continuation of our effort to interlock you with some common men and women who have been seeking financial freedom, today, it is a chance to meet Gagan Arora. 
Gagan is a Sr. Manager - Software Engineering, San Francisco, USA.

Over to Gagan and his story in his own words...

While Manoj and I never interacted during my tenure at IBM, I was always connected to him via social media. I was always fascinated by financial markets, but it was only after reading Manoj's book - "The Autobiography of a stock", I decided to get more involved with investing.

I still wasn’t clear how to plan and be prepared for life events and that’s when I decided to work with Manoj to build my freedom plan.

It’s been 4 years on this wonderful journey already since then, and I have come a long way. Manoj has been guiding patiently for consistent tracking, managing portfolio allocation, and helping closely monitor the freedom plan. He is always available via WhatsApp, JMC calls and makes sure to push me whenever I fell behind on my plan.

Thanks to the freedom plan tracker, I have a clear picture of all our assets and liabilities, clear understanding where to focus next is super helpful to plan each month. I look forward to continuing to track and adhere to the plan with Manoj's help with same zest and enthusiasm until I achieve freedom.

I have many dreams. I want to explore the world and not just stay tied to a desk job for my entire life. I want to read and learn more about financial markets. I want to be a good financial planner myself. I want to get back to playing guitar. In fact, I took out my guitar after many years of it biting dust. Now that I have hope, I wanted to have a feel of it. Last, but not the least, I want to spend real good quality time with family and friends.

And I know that all this will come true as long as I am pursuing this journey. I have hope, and hope is a very big thing.

My message to fellow freedom seekers is to stay in the game. There will be times when things don’t work as expected, we are in this for a long term and over time everything will catch up to the plan. Just don’t give up and keep trying your best to adhere to the plan!

My favourite quote is from none other than Warren Buffett:

“If you don't find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die.”

We will be together monitoring the journey for Gagan, and even beyond. We will also tune their portfolio during the course of this journey so that the journey stays on track. Our regular mentoring with Gagan and family would include maximizing returns from their existing investments, tuning the portfolio for liquidity and suppleness, and fine-tuning the plan during his journey - depending on how life shapes up for him and his family.

We wish Gagan all the best for his life ahead and wish that he can go on to chase his true dreams and calling in life.

Gagan is just one among you. He is no different, except the fact that he took a step to connect with us, was open to accepting our advice, and then worked on that advice. He took the first step. He came out of his comfort zone and will surely be rewarded for the same, in times to come.
