Kalpavriksha springs up in Mumbai !

It has been an awesome journey of meeting some of the best friends on the way to trying to change the environment around us. Rita Cooper, a dreamer, who completed her journey towards Financial Freedom in 2016, became our Mumbai Leader by planting our first 3 trees there.....Mumbai, Here we come....Read on..

After Delhi, Gurgaon, Guntur(AP) and Pune, it is the turn of Mumbai to get its dose of green. And who else could have been a better leader for us in Mumbai than Rita Cooper.

Meet our Mumbai Leader
Rita Cooper

Rita Cooper is one of the dreamers who completed her journey From the Rat Race to Financial Freedom in Dec 2016.
[Not a long time back, we published her story in our blog when she was pursuing her journey towards Financial Freedom - Click here to view.]

Her career spanned 30 plus years in IT, telecommunications, Sales & Marketing.
She is a doting mother and grandma shuttling between Mumbai & USA where her daughter lives.
She is immensely passionate about the environment. She loves to travel, read, cook & has a people friendly disposition.
Rita is also passionate about yoga & walking.
Her objective is to always keep learning & lending herself to worthy causes such as Kalpavriksha &  has recently started the initiative in Mumbai.
Rita says, “I want to lead & inspire others to join & assist in reaching the noble cause of 1 million trees in India.."

What was Special about the first Mumbai plantation?
The first few trees are always the most difficult to get planted for a Leader. Finding a trustworthy, reliable & cost effective nursery, understanding fencing needs, finding volunteers, convincing them and, last but not the least - having the zeal to get things done on the ground.
Not only did she got the 3 trees planted, she understood the entire process that we follow for effective management and care of every single tree.
She also got many people in her society involved in this great cause by encouraging one of her friend couple to be a volunteer. Mercy & Tony Menezes have committed to care for the tree for the next 3 years at-least.

Not only that, Rita has single-handedly been responsible for donating & collecting more than INR 30,000 for this great cause. Now, this level of commitment is found only in a dreamer and passionate go-getter.

Our first Mumbai Volunteer Couple
Mercy & Tony Menezes are our first Volunteer couples from Mumbai and have committed to care for the tree for the next 3 years at-least. Their commitment is not only praise worthy but an inspiration for the generations to come.

Mercy & Tony Menezes
Some Random Snaps
In the end, I would leave you with some random samples of our Mumbai plantation. And I hope that some more volunteers and leaders will show up, and will find time and motivation to do something for the environment. If not for ourselves, at least for the sake of our children.

Mumbai - we are here !

Wish to know more about Kalpavriksha?

Cheers
