Your results will keep you going !!

Some of my friends that follow my blog and regularly interact with me gave some specific comments on Financial Freedom. Their point of view was that they are very eagerly awaiting  the next steps on how to get financially free. They are very keen to know what are the steps 1 to 10 that they must follow so that they can be financially free as fast as possible. While they want to know the steps, I am still focusing my posts on dreams, motivation, drive, inspiration and passion. Why am i not hopping over to the actual steps to achieve
financial freedom?

I responded to them stating that listing down the steps or understanding the steps is not difficult at all. Anyone can tell you steps 1 to 10. In fact listing down the steps is the easiest thing to do. This topic of financial freedom has been there for sometime now. There has been so much said and written about it already. So, why is it that only 1-2% of the entire population of the world has been able to achieve financial freedom. What stops the rest of 98%?

OK, lets talk about something simpler to drill home the point. Let us say that you are slightly overweight and have a desire to control our weight. Do we know the steps to weight control? Do we know what we should eat and what we should not so that we can control our weight? Do we know that we need to also exercise to achieve this goal? Absolutely, we know everything about it. We know exactly what all we need to do to control our own weight. Even if we do not know it, this information is all available on the internet for anybody to view and follow. In spite of all this, hardly a few minor % of the people are successfully able to control their weight. Why?

So many times, we make a promise to ourselves, only to be broken the very next day
- It can be the new year resolution which hardly lasted beyond the first day of January
- It might be a common experience for you to decide to start exercising every morning and this promise lasted only till the first rain forced you to stay inside within 3 days of your starting this journey. After that, you did not bother about either the rain or the exercise.
- It might be your decision to reduce your weight by 10 pounds in the next 3 months. You started well but you could not say No to the party at the friends house over the weekend and after that it was a free for all.

Like this, there are hundreds of examples in our day to day lives where we leave our goals or dreams midway, though we know what exactly needs to be done to achieve the goals.

The point i am trying to make is that it is not that we do not know the way or the steps but there are some other critical elements and ingredients that are important to drive the journey towards our goals - whether the goal is to control our weight, doing our morning exercise or achieving financial freedom.Unless we understand, appreciate and abide by those key ingredients, the chances of us reaching the end goal is pretty slim. And those are the critical elements i am trying to focus on now a days through my posts. Once these are taken care of, achieving the steps is not that difficult, trust me.

The first key ingredient to achieving any goal is to make it powerful enough by asking what will happen to your life if you do not achieve that specific goal. e.g. while i was looking for financial freedom, day and night, i used to think that what my life would be if i would not become financially free ever in my life.. It would be the same routine again and again for the rest of my life and i would die without achieving anything of significance in this world. This used to inspire me a lot. It is different for different people. If you plan to control your weight, you got to strengthen your dream by thinking about what you will lose if you do not achieve your goal. You will probably lose your health. Does losing your health matter to you?
If what you lose does not matter much in your life, then your dream is not a dream and is still just a wish. You must strengthen your dream to an extent that it is empowered enough to give you a kick start. The initial thrust and momentum can only be provided by your dream. The stronger the dream, the better your start would be.

Though the strength of your dream gives you the first kick and the initial momentum, what keeps it going all the way to the end? It is the results that you achieve during your journey that would help re-energize yourself and give your journey the momentum needed to take it till the end. So, if you decided to control your weight, had a strong enough reason to do that, then it would be the reduction in weight and the positive improvement in your health that would give the energy to keep yourself going.

If you are aiming for financial freedom, you need an extremely strong dream to generate the initial momentum and then the results during your journey would keep the momentum going... till you reach the goal. So, spend more time in making your dream extremely powerful rather than on understanding the steps. A powerful thrust at the beginning of your journey is half the job done !!

Keep dreaming !!

Cheers
